How Data Is Used

This data is used only to provide comment fetching, search, filtering, sorting, export, local caching, and local analysis features.

Local Storage

Fetched comments and user settings may be stored locally in the user's browser using browser extension storage and IndexedDB. Users can clear the local comment cache from the extension options page.

Backend Processing

For YouTube, Comment Pulse sends the current YouTube video ID to the Comment Pulse backend. The backend uses the YouTube Data API to fetch public comments. The YouTube Data API key is stored on the backend and is not included in the extension.

The backend may receive standard technical request data, such as IP address, request time, and user agent, as part of normal server operation and abuse prevention. This information is used for security, rate limiting, diagnostics, and service reliability.

Data Sharing

Comment Pulse does not sell user data and does not share user data with advertisers. Comment Pulse uses a backend service only to fetch public YouTube comments and protect the YouTube API key.

Remote Code

Comment Pulse does not download or execute remote code. The backend returns comment data, not executable code.
